How do I join The Cabin?

You can renew or purchase a new membership on our website here. You can also call us at 208-331-8000.

How long is my membership good for?

Your membership is good for one year after your purchase date. You will be sent a renewal reminder in the month it expires. Monthly memberships renew until you cancel.

What does it mean to “upgrade my membership”?

You can upgrade your membership by supporting The Cabin at a higher membership level (and therefore receiving the benefits associated with that level!) when your membership comes up for renewal.

How can I buy Cabin events online with my member discount?

Contact us at 208-331-8000 to receive your discount code.

I’ve moved. How can I update my contact information?

You can update your mailing address, email address, and/or phone number by contacting The Cabin at 208-331-8000, or by emailing us at info@thecabinidaho.org.

Your membership levels don’t correspond with what I’d like to give. How can I give The Cabin an amount that is more or less than a designated membership level?

Good question! We suggest joining The Cabin at the membership level that makes the most sense for your budget and to make any additional contributions as a tax-deductible donation.

Do my annual contributions count towards my Leadership Circle membership?

Contributions given to support The Cabin’s programs via the annual appeal, the Gala, Idaho Gives, or any other special fundraising campaign do not count towards membership. We appreciate your patronage whether you support us by joining The Cabin or by giving us a tax-deductible donation.

How can I add family members to my membership?

You can call or email the Cabin and we can add the names of family members to your account.

Is my membership to The Cabin tax deductible?

Yes, your membership is tax deductible. We strive to acknowledge all memberships within one month of the join or renew date.

Does The Cabin accept matching gifts?

Yes, we do — as donations.

What does a Free Drop-In Workshop entail?

Drop-In Workshops are taught by a teaching writer who delivers various writing prompts and inspiration, followed by time for attendees to write and share their work as time allows. Learn more here.

Do you have any writing programs for kids?

Yes, we have a number of creative summer writing camps for youth grades 3-12. Learn more here. We also have a program called Writers in the Schools, which pairs our teaching writers with schools to deliver creative writing programs throughout the Treasure Valley. Learn more here.

I have a finished manuscript, and would like to run it by other readers. Is this something The Cabin can help me with, or do you know of a group I can join to help me refine my professional work?

The Cabin offers adult writing workshops that can often help writers refine their work, but we do not offer editorial services. The Idaho Writers Guild is a good organization for local writers seeking to publish/revise a manuscript or join a professional community of other writers. Learn about the Idaho Writers Guild here.

I would like to promote my new book with a reading or author reception. Is this something The Cabin could potentially host next month?

No, The Cabin staff do not necessarily have the time or capacity to add spontaneous events to our event lineup, but Rediscovered Books often hosts events for up and coming authors. They can be reached at rdbooks.org

Do you accept donations of books?

No, The Cabin does not take book donations, but Book it Forward does! Learn more about how to donate your books here.

Can your programs help my child/friend/relative learn how to read and write, or overcome a learning disability?

Our programs can often inspire reluctant or challenged writers or readers to discover the love and joy of creative expression, but we do not necessarily offer programs in literacy.
